One Changed Life

Jesse and I are board members of a new, non-profit, sponsorship program for kids in Ethiopia called One Changed Life. We are still in the beginning stages, so we do not have a web site up and running yet. However, you can click here to read our flier, which includes our mission statement, goals and objectives. You can sponsor a child for $30 per month and provide them with food, clothing, medical care and the ability to go to school. I know there are many sponsorship programs and worthy causes out there. But if you or anyone you know would be interested in sponsoring or learning more, please email me at jnahaynes@potlatch.com Also, 100% of the proceeds do go directly to the children.

A lesson to be learned

Suppose you went to a friend's house at midnight, wanting to borrow three loaves of bread. You say to him, 'A friend of mine has just arrived for a visit, but I have nothing for him to eat.' And suppose he calls out from his bedroom, 'Don't bother me. The door is locked for the night, and my family and I are all in bed. I can't help you.' But I tell you this--though he won't do it for friendship's sake, if you keep knocking long enough, he will get up and give you whatever you need because of your shameless persistence.

And so I tell you, keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks, finds. And everyone who knocks, the door will be opened.

Any kingdom divided by civil war is doomed. A family splintered by feuding will fall apart.

"When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, searching for rest. But when it finds none, it says, 'I will return to the person I came from.' So it returns and finds that its former home is all swept and in order. Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before."

God's Chisel

I cannot get this video to load, but to watch God's Chisel Click Here

I especially like the part that says

"God, I've let you down so many times"

"No, you were never holding me up. I hold you up. Don't you forget that."

Little Miss Mya

Today she had her first haircut. I was worried we might cut off all her beautiful curls, but it looks like she will still have them. Maybe they are more than just baby curls after all! I couldn't get her to cooperate for a good front picture, but you get the point....

Happiness

What if God designed marriage to make us holy more than to make us happy? ~Gary Thomas

In one of the Psalms, King David writes these words to God, "You have made known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasure at your right hand."

Anne Graham Lotz, daughter of Billy Graham, writes these words about one of the storms in her life:

"These storms of suffering have increased and intensified in my life because Jesus wants me
to soar higher in my relationship with Him--
to fall deeper in love with Him,
to grow stronger in my faith in Him,
to be more consistent in my walk with Him
to bear more fruit in my service to Him,
to draw closer to His heart,
to keep my focus on His face,
to live for His glory alone!"

When you live for God's glory, happiness isn't elusive. It doesn't fade in and out like the tides, but is a constant source coming from within.

"Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." ~Matthew 11:28

Come Back

You run, you hide
As tears fall from your eyes
They fall like snow
From a wounded soul
You hold inside
The hurt of great divide
The hole is starting to get old
So come back to the light
To the love, you will find
It’s been here all along
So come back to the start
And you’ll find in your heart
That you always belonged
To me
Just take the rope
I won’t let it go
Give in
We can start again
I’m life, I’m hope
And I’m ready to explode
With how bad I want you back home
So come back to the light
To the love, you will find
It’s been here all along
So come back to the start
And you’ll find in your heart
That you always belonged
To me
You’re my daughter, you’re my son
You’re the one I long to love
And you’ve heard I chose to die
Do you know you’re the reason why?
